55 Colmore Row, Birmingham

This project for Morgan Sindall Construction Infrastructure Ltd had a project value of circa £450,000.  It was one of our most detailed projects and included glass partitions, automatic doors, balustrades and the ultimate feature a 7 storey glass lift shaft enclosing 2 lift cars.

Main entrance screen

The main entrance screen, incorporating 2 pairs of Geze Slimdrive automatic, bi-parting sliding doors and frameless glass.  The main screen has a glass link bridge above it with full height glass each side of the bridge, and glass partions each end.

Glazed arches

These glazed arches were designed and installed by Demon Designs to be a single unit of glass.  Manufactured from toughened and laminated glass, the panels were nearly 5m high and 1.5m wide.

Partitions and doors

Demon Designs supplied and installed glass partitions to the main reception area, including back painted spandrel panels and doors.

55 Colmore Row: Project

Scenic lifts

The main feature of the whole project was the glass scenic lifts.
The mamoth lift shaft extends over 7 floors and contains 2 lift cars, and is constructed entirely from 21.5mm thick, low iron, toughened and laminated glass.
The lift numbers and letters were formed by back painting the glass.
